Gatwick, along with heathrow airport and Stansted, are more important than Newcastle, Aberdeen or Newquay. Stansted alone handles more passengers than Aberdeen, Newcastle or Newquay combined.

They are considered international ‘gateways’ into the United Kingdom.

Slack news day perhaps. I would say that anybody intending to travel might just be a tad interested however?!!

Gatwick, along with Heathrow, Stansted and maybe Luton, are the main airports in the country after all. And if the fog is bad enough in other parts of the country, to cancel flights, I imagine that would get on the national news too?

I live in Cornwall now, but don't get chippy if Cornish events don't make it onto the National News, not that I think fog at Newquay is traveling to involve as many people, potentially, as delays at LGW might.

Seeing as in the news, the other main article in the news is a piddly bit of fog (it’s not even proper, thick, can’t see the car ahead fo you fog), I have the feeling it is an extremely slow news day.

Gatwick is busier, more people (who pay their licence fees) use it.
Besides, we down South are much more important then you Northerners!

There are trains there at all hours but I used to find it more restful to get there by about 23:00 and snooze in the lounge until check-in time. Among other things, at 01:00 there are considerably fewer drunks at london gatwick than on trains from London.

The london LGW Express train runs from London to Gatwick airport (into the south terminal) every 30 mins. You'd have to go from Watford to London or Clapham junction to get on the Gatwick Express.

If you dont fancy getting the trains at silly o clock in the morning.
The travel lodge do rooms from £19 a night - well worth looking at to take the stress of travelling in the early hours of the morning.

Also there is the National Express bus service that runs 24hours from Watford Junction to Gatwick. Look on there web site for time.
